Atlanta Falcons at New York Giants – NFL Betting Pick Week 5 2014

Unfortunate that the Steelers decided not to show up for their game and pulled all those penalties, but that is the game of NFL betting! Or maybe betting in general, heh. But now we are even farther into the season and I feel more and more confident in the bets I am putting out. The one we are playing here is a typical overreaction regarding both teams recent performances.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are coming off another road loss and this might be even more humiliating coming against a lower-tier Vikings team that plays without their star RB Peterson and utilizing a rookie QB. The defense had a really poor showing letting both Bridgewater and Asiata run all over them. This definitely needs to be fixed not only to be able to beat the Giants this week, but if they want to get to the playoffs.

Now the offense looked at least somewhat potent, but after having 3(!) offensive lineman going down and out due to injuries, so went their chances of making a comeback out as well. They even had to put their TE Toilolo at right tackle for the remainder of the 4th quarter. These are all things that will come together for the next week as they get to prepare for not having players ready and not, and we are well aware that Matt Ryan can connect to his stud receivers.

New York Giants

This team seems to be staging a late comeback after looking to start another horrible season. Their offense looked as horrible as it did last season and the defense weren’t able to help them out much. But now they seem to be back in the saddle after dismantling a solid Redskins team. The defense got a plethora of turnovers and Eli had a field day being able to sling the ball all over the field.

We need to see if this team is gonna be able to continue to produce this kinda production or if they are still struggling to implement the West Coast offense of Ben McAdoo. I think that the defensive line of the Giants is still to be feared and will continue to help produce turnovers and help the offense out some, but then the offense can’t be giving up that many turnovers as they have in the past.

Our Predictions

Two strong teams are facing off here that seem to be struggling with their own kind of problems. Right now the Giants look to be in a good steam, but are they really? It looked more like to me that they won the turnover battle by a huge margin. Having 5 more turnovers than the other team is gonna leave them desolated for sure. They cannot reliably expect that going into their next match and now they are facing an even more potent offense, and the Falcons defense is facing a less tough running game. This is gonna be a much tighter affair than the latter two games they have played in and we like to take the points here.
