Giants Patriots Super Bowl Preview

A rematch of the 2009 Super Bowl has the New York Giants playing the New England Patriots. But this year the Patriots would like to come away with the Super Bowl rings.

Starting with the New York Giants, who have been fighting for their playoff life since week 17 needing a win over the Dallas cowboys to make it into the post season. Their path then took them to victories over the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers and most recently a win over the San Francisco 49ers.  The Giants have looked like a different team this post season, limiting turnovers, increasing their offensive production and limiting opposing teams offence.

The New England Patriots, 13-3 on the season were bound for the Super Bowl. The AFC was such a easy path to the Super Bowl, the Patriots only thought game was their last game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Patriots played it though winning that game 23-20. Today’s game will be much like the same, it will be a close battle all the way through. The big talk has been about injured TE R. Gronkowski who strained his ankle in their win over the Ravens. But what people are forgetting is that the Patriots have another great TE in A. Hernandez. All this injury talk has been great for people looking to bet on the Patriots as it has kept the spread within 3.

I think the Patriots will be gunning for revenge, and they will beat the giants by 4 points. This will be a close one but I think the Patriots have just a little more in the tank than the Giants. I also believe that the Giants are due for some unexpected turnovers, they have been able to protect the ball a little more than normal this post season and their luck is going to change.

My money bet for the Super Bowl is on the combined total and i am taking the under. I have seen this total at 53 points at some sportsbooks, and this is a huge number for the Biggest game of a players life! Defenses will be at an all time high for both these teams, leaving it all out on the field, plus these two offences do not turn the ball over very much.

The other night in preparation for this week’s game I found the 2007 Super Bowl on NFL Network. I got to the game late however with only about 2:30 left in the 4^th quarter, perfect timing. I have to say, I didn’t remember the Giants go ahead drive being so ugly. That game was so boring in the first 3 quarters that I remember playing “Halo” at half and missing about 5 minutes of the 3^rd quarter. This year’s match should be a much prettier game, quasi Giselle-ish if you will. With 2 great Quarterbacks going up against a pair of soft (at least during the regular season) defenses we should see plenty of scores.

The Giants have their own set of offensive playmakers to rival the Patriots. Hakeem Nicks is/will be a top 5 receiver in this league. Victor Cruz put up an amazing season. I don’t think the Patriots will forget about Mr. Jake Ballard either, he caught the game winner against them earlier this year. If Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw can get it going on the ground the Giants could control the clock which would be very advantageous of them.

The Giants defense struggled mightily during the regular season, they had some injuries, but they also had some shitty play. However they do have Tom Brady kryptonite and that is a good pass rush. Even better, a pass rush that doesn’t need to blitz much. With Jason Pierre Paul, Justin Tuck, and Osi Umenyiora on the line they can bring some heavy pressure.

The big storyline for New England this week has been the Rob Gronkowski ankle injury, will he play? Probably. The Gronk-man is a beast. He’s, too big, too fast, and too strong to keep out. If Terrell Owens played in ’04 with a broken leg (and dominated) then Gronk can play with a wonky ankle and still kill it. Even without Gronk I think I’d still like the Patriots in this game. Aaron Hernandez, while not quite a Gronk still had 910 yards this season and he only played in 14 games; not a bad contribution from your backup tight end. I’d be remiss if I didn’t gloss over Tom Brady and his

quest for a 4^th ring and yadda yadda yadda. People always bring this shit up in debates of who’s the best Quarterback. The truth is that measuring a Quarterback’s greatness through a team achievement makes no sense. Brady was carried by his defense in his first few SB’s and Eli was carried by his defense for his first championship.

The Patriots defense is a far cry from what it was during the “dynasty” years. They don’t exactly have a lot of top end talent on this unit and it showed. Nobody has ever given up as many yards and made it to the Super Bowl. The one thing they do have however, is a penchant for nabbing interceptions. They had 23 in the regular season and added 11 fumble recoveries to that. The key to the game could hinge on this Pat’s defense to cause turnovers.

This one is close, we should get a good game to watch. I like the Giants to win. If Eli doesn’t make any stupid mistakes he’ll make his brother jealous with his new bling bling.

To start off let’s pick the Super Bowl MVP. For this, Tom Brady and Eli Manning are the worst odds, because more often than not a quarterback will win the award. This year though I like receivers, they have the money odds.

So if you think New England will win with Gronk having a shaky ankle then Wes Welker makes sense as MVP especially with his 15/1 odds. If you think the Giants will win then Hakeem Nicks has some solid 12/1 odds for MVP while Victor Cruz is 8/1. I’d probably put a couple smaller bets across the board on this one for the super talented receivers with good odds and then cover my ass taking the Quarterbacks on small bets too. If you’re really swaggin’ there is always the option of choosing one of the kickers with 100/1 odds.

The next prop I’ve scouted isn’t a great or even very interesting pick, but it should make some money. Over/under for total interceptions thrown by Eli Manning is at ½. The odds aren’t great also at ½, but the Patriots were tied for 2^nd in the league in forcing interceptions over the regular season and Eli is known to throw a few picks.

The next one is, if Tom Brady’s son is shown on TV during the game will he be wearing a Tom Brady jersey? This one is kind of funny, if this was for Carlos Boozer I’d lay down on the no, but it is Tom Brady. I can’t see little Tommy junior not rockin his pops jersey, even at such a young age that kid has to respect Tom’s football skills and of course his pimp game.

Which brings me to the next prop, how many times will Giselle Bundchen be shown on TV during the game? With the over under set at ½ I have to think there will be at least on horny cameraman that’s just like, “Oh man we gotta get Giselle on camera, boner city.” So I’d take the over and hope for the best.

Ravens Patriots Preview Conference Finals

The Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots square off in the AFC Conference Finals at Gillette Stadium. The pressure is on for both these teams as they are one game away from the Super Bowl.

Baltimore was a 20-13 winner at home against the Texans in the AFC divisional playoff game. It was a close game and if it were not for the defense of the Ravens they could have easily lost. The Ravens did not cover the 7.5 point spread and the low scoring offences of both teams took the game under the total. But there were some bright spots. The Texans shut down the running game of the Ravens and they were forced to throw the ball more than usual. But Flaco and his receivers looked to be on the same page most of the game, Anquan Boldin had one of his best games of the season pulling in a few remarkable catches.  Ed Reed will be a big question mark although he says he is ready to play he might not be 100%, he is one of the biggest play makers on the Ravens defense and is key to their success. The rest of the team looks to be healthy and ready to play come Sunday.

New England could have just sat out another bye and played their practice squad as they easily got by Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos 45-10. The beat down came as no surprise as the Patriots were 14 point favorites going in. “The Broncos were the team we thought they were” And the Patriots didn’t let them off the hook, simply put you cannot put much emphasis on the game as the Broncos are not a good team, they just seem to have the football gods on their side.

The New England offence is healthy and so is their defense but they will need a stellar performance from both side of the field to win this game.

This will be an exciting game to watch as the only offensive powerhouse left takes on one of the league’s best defenses.  Thus far it has been the defensive teams coming away with the wins and I think this trend will continue with a Ravens victory over the Pats. Giants 49ers Preview Conference Finals

The New York Giants will travel to Candlestick Park to play the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Conference Finals. Everything will be left on the field as the winner of this game will be heading to the Super Bowl.

The Giants won a mini Super Bowl of their own last week as they beat the Green Bay Packers 37-20. The Giants stunned the Packers who were never able to get an offensive rhythm going.  They now much 180 their game plan from playing the best offence to now playing the strong defense of the 49ers.  The Giants are the best all round team, they have a good offence, a great QB and a tough defense. They are also led by one of the best coaches in the league, Tom Coughlin. This team has a chance to put up points with either side of the team playing and it is what makes them so dangerous.

The 49ers showed their offensive side by putting up more points than the New Orleans saints with a final score of 36-32. We have not seen that type of offensive power before and it was one of Alex Smith’s best games of his career.  The defense also helped them get such a high score giving them great field positioning from take always.  The 49ers will hope to get back to the Super Bowl a stage they have not stepped foot on since 1995. The 49ers are 5-0 in the Super Bowl and are a threat to any team who plays them.

This will be a battle of a game but I think defense will prevail. The key to the 49er’s success will be running the ball with Frank Gore. On the season gore had a 4.3 yard per carry average, and last game he boosted it to 6.8. With the Giants a little soft on the run defense I think this is all they need to get by the Giants.

Giants Packers Preview

The New York Giants travel north to play in the frigid temperatures of Lambeau Field as they take on the Green Bay Packers in the NFC divisional playoff game.

The Giants come off a big win over the Falcons last week winning 24-2. The Giants pass rush was able to surround and collapse the pocket of the Falcons, something they must do if they have any hopes of winning today’s game. Eli Manning has been great this season and he is poised to fill his injured brother’s position in the playoffs. Last week Eli had a 129 passer rating but expected as he has had a 93 passer rating on the season.  One thing that the Giants might not be prepared for is the cold temperatures up in Green Bay, luckily it should be a “nice” day for the game.

After a week of rest the Packers are back at it. A team that hopes to finish this season 18-1 with a Super Bowl ring but it will by no means be an easy task. The Packers have been the team to beat this season, with Rogers slinging the ball at a MVP caliper the Cheese Heads looked like they could not be beat. But as the season wore on teams started to dial them in and limit their offensive success. With no run game to speak of it will all be on the shoulders of Aaron Rodgers and the Packers wide receivers

This is the toughest game for me to pick, I think the Giants are a better overall team and they have a much better coach. On the other hand Green Bay doesn’t need a coach as Aaron Rogers is the coach of the Packers offence.

Bottom Line; I am rolling the dice and taking the Giants, I can see the Packers winning by a touchdown but that extra half point gives the Giants an edge. They are a team that could even win this game. My bet is on the G-men plus 7.5 points

Texans Ravens Preview

The Houston Texans will hope to run past the Baltimore Ravens as they play today in the AFC divisional playoff game  at M&T Bank.

Last week the Texans were able to get by the Bengals 31-10. It was the Texans first playoff win lead by running back Arian Foster. Foster rushed for over 150 yards and 2 TD’s. TJ Yates played his first career NFL playtoff game, it wasn’t his best performance but it was good enough for the win. He went 11 of 20 for 159 yards and a TD. Today the Texans will need just as good or better of an effort from Foster, as well as the Texans defense will need to pressure the Falco and the Baltimore front line early to limit their passing opportunities.

On the other side we have the Baltimore Ravens who rested last week with a playoff Bye. The Ravens were 12-4 on the season averaging 23.6 points per game and like every year their defense was stellar only giving up an average of 16 points a game. The offense of the Ravens has been hit or miss, Flaco has never seemed to get on the same page with his receivers, but lucky for the ravens they have a little guy in the back field called Ray Rice. Rice was one of the leaders in the NFL this season in rushing and fantasy points he has been the only consistent producer on the Ravens offence.  Today the Ravens will need to have their A game if they hope to advance to the next round of playoffs.

Texans Ravens Betting Pick

My Super Bowl pick all year long has been the Baltimore Ravens and I am sticking to it, they will beat the Texans today and cover the 7.5 point spread. The Texans are to inexperienced and the Ravens matchup better on offence and defense and they play great at home! Expect the fans in Baltimore to get loud as they play as the 12 man on the field.

Bottom Line; Baltimore Ravens win this game covering spread, if you are feeling lucky parlay it with the under as I don’t see these teams scoring many points.

You either hate him of love him it seems but the majority of viewers are just loving Tim Tebow. In fact the NFL says that the Denver Broncos New England Patriots game might get the highest ratings EVER for a divisional playoff game. After the Broncos beat the Steelers in over time last week they could beat the Patriots if they play like the did last week. With God on the Broncos side anything is possible.

Another story that has broken about Tim Tebow is if he will be the first openly gay pro athlete. This all came after his most recent interview in which he fluttered his hands and talked a little “gay”. Now I have nothing against gay people… And I dont care if he is gay but i cant pass up on a funny moment and passing it on. So I was able to dig up the youbute video of his “gay moment”

If the rumor is true and Tebow is gay and states it publicly one thing will be for sure is that Tebow Jersiers will be selling like crazy. As a mater of fact I don’t know why not pro athlete has not stated they are openly gay… Even if there were the shitiest player on the team they would make millions in endorsements lol.

It will be interesting how Tebow takes this and if he lets in affect him, but that will just add to the excitement come Saturday night. Broncos Patriots Preview

The Denver Broncos will be hoping for another prayer as the go into play the New England Patriots in the AFC divisional playoff game at Gillette Stadium.

Last week the Broncos shocked the NFL community as they easily managed to beat the Pittsburg Steelers 29-23. The mobility of Tebow was too much to handle for the Steelers defense but it was not just the running game that won the Broncos the game. Tebow actually had a great game throwing the ball for 316 yards and 2 TD’s also adding 50 yards rushing. What Tebow will we see in this game? The Tewbow 2 games before playoffs who couldn’t buy a pass completion or Tebow of last week. Injuries to note for the Broncos are; Brian Dawkins and leading WR Eric Decker.

The New England Patriots had the week off as they captured a bye in the AFC division. They finished the season 13-3 but they were not the powerhouse of past season. The Patriots are getting older and it has showed on the defensive side. On the bright side the Patriots have had best success at defending the run. Good news for the Pats is they are “healthy” this team has been banged up all season, close to 8 players are classified questionable but from what I have seen all are expected to play.  Coach Bill Belichick has been watching video all week and you know he will have a game plan to keep Tebow contained.

Broncos Patriots Betting Pick

13.5 points is a big spread for a playoff game, and if the Broncos play like they did last week they most definitely could cover the spread or even win. But I see the injury to Eric Decker being a big factor to the team. The Pats came into this season knowing their team is elderly on the Defensive side and is the reason the made their bench deep. With most of their roster active the Patriots will be able to rotate their players and keep them fresh.

Bottom Line; Although it is a big spread I still like the Patriots in this game. They have the experience and talent to win this game and cover the 13.5 point spread.
