Oakland Raiders at Cleveland Browns – NFL Betting Pick Week 8 2014

Took a week off from posting betting tips as I were going away, but I got to watch the games and have a couple of good ones coming up now I feel. Now the playoff pictures and races are starting to form and we can get a better handle on who have something to play for and will actually put in the work and where all of the teams actually stand. This is exactly the situation we have in the bet that we want to write about today.

Oakland Raiders

The worst team in the league as of now. They are sitting on a 0-6 record and things are not looking up to be honest. Even though Derek Carr has been doing ok in his starting season, they are still the team with the lowest points scored too. This is mostly a problem with the running game which has not been up to task at all. Both Maurice Jones Drew and Darren McFadden has not been producing much and that makes it hard for their rookie QB to make things happen in the passing game.

There is something positive coming out of Oakland though and that is the fact that the defense is playing pretty good despite the offense not helping them much. They sit around the middle of the pack when it comes to letting up points, and that is with probably the most time out on the field out of all the defenses in the league. But things needs to be turned around elsewhere though and it is not looking good as mentioned.

Cleveland Browns

Had a terrible showing against the Jaguars last week, but have had an ok season before this. They sit last in a tough AFC North group, but that is with a 3-3 record. They have been giving some solid teams a run for their money and come back from some amazing deficits. This is team effort though as both the offense and the defense have been doing their parts at time. Brian Hoyer seems to be leading the team well, but the running game have been the high point here. Last week this unit did not show up and that were the main cause of their bad loss.

Their defense is also doing work as they are limiting the opposition to scores that should be well within range of the offense to keep up with. And they have done just that – somewhat. This is still not a playoff team – yet, but they are working hard and can give it to almost any team in the league. Without Josh Gordon there are not many playmakers here to do the big plays for them.

Our Predictions

It is pretty clear who is the bigger favorites here – or maybe it would be correct to say which team is not gonna show up. The Raiders are not in sync at all for the time being and the Browns are going to keep on being solid and probably get their run game together again. Considering that they are at home the defense will make short work of a hurting offense, so betting the spread here is a simple proposition.
